Greetings,
You Are Protected Right Where God Has Placed You
“My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.” - John 17:15

Unpacking the Message of John 17:15
John 17:15 is one of the most intimate glimpses we have into the heart of Jesus for His people. Spoken within His high priestly prayer, this verse reveals not only His concern for the disciples who walked with Him, but for every believer who would follow Him throughout history. Jesus knew that His followers would face real spiritual dangers, temptations, and opposition, yet His prayer was not for their removal from the world, but for their protection while living within it. This simple but profound truth shows us that God’s plan for His people is not escape but endurance, not avoidance but victorious engagement.
This verse reminds us that the Christian life is not meant to be lived in isolation from the world. Jesus did not call His followers to hide from culture, fear the future, or retreat from society. Instead, He called them to be salt and light—fully present, fully engaged, and fully dependent on God. If Jesus had asked the Father to take us out of the world, we would miss the opportunity to influence it, love the people in it, and glorify God through our faithfulness. In this way, John 17:15 becomes a call to mission. It is a reminder that belonging to Christ does not remove us from responsibility; it empowers us for it.
At the same time, Jesus acknowledged the reality of spiritual warfare. The phrase “the evil one” points directly to the enemy’s desire to corrupt, distract, and destroy. The Lord did not minimize the weight of this battle. He saw the schemes of the enemy clearly, and He understood the vulnerability of human hearts. Yet rather than shielding His followers through escape, He surrounded them with divine protection through prayer. This means that our safety is not found in withdrawing from the world but in abiding in the One who guards us in the midst of it.
This prayer also reveals the confidence Jesus has in the Father’s ability to protect us. When Christ asked for this protection, He did so knowing the Father’s will, power, and faithfulness. The protection Jesus prayed for is not passive. It is active, intentional, and constant. It means that God goes before us, stands beside us, and remains behind us. It means that every spiritual attack is filtered through the sovereign hand of God. Believers do not walk through the world unguarded; they walk covered by the prayer and presence of Christ Himself.

In addition, John 17:15 highlights the trust Jesus has in His followers. He believed that, with the Father’s protection, His disciples could live faithfully in a hostile environment. He trusted them to carry His message, to preach His gospel, and to represent His heart. This same trust extends to us today. Jesus does not see His people as fragile or incapable. He sees them as equipped, empowered, and strengthened by the Holy Spirit to stand firm in truth and love. His prayer is a declaration that God’s power within us is greater than the darkness around us.
The verse also teaches believers that spiritual protection is not the same as comfort or ease. Living in the world means facing challenges, opposition, and temptation. But Jesus does not pray that we would be free from these struggles. Instead, He prays that the struggles will not overcome us. This truth helps us shift our perspective when life becomes difficult. Hardship does not mean God is distant. Temptation does not mean God has abandoned us. Rather, these experiences reveal opportunities for God’s protection to be displayed and His strength to be made perfect in our weakness.
On a deeper spiritual level, this prayer shows the relational closeness Jesus desires for His followers. Christ longs for His people to walk through life with the assurance of divine protection. He wants believers to live confidently, not anxiously. When we understand the weight of His prayer, we realize that our security is rooted not in circumstances but in relationship. Jesus prayed for our protection because He values us, loves us, and refuses to leave us vulnerable. His prayer is an expression of His shepherd’s heart.
Finally, John 17:15 is a reminder that we are not abandoned in the world. The God who created the universe has made Himself our defender. Jesus, our Savior, actively intercedes on our behalf. The Holy Spirit empowers and guides us. We are surrounded, guarded, and strengthened by the full love and power of the Trinity. This truth transforms the way we walk through life. We no longer have to shrink back from challenges or fear the unknown. Instead, we can step forward boldly, knowing that Christ has prayed for us and that His prayer still stands today.
In the end, this verse calls believers to courageous, active faith. It invites us to remain in the world as witnesses of God’s grace, confident that we are covered and protected. Jesus’ prayer becomes our strength, His presence becomes our shield, and His purpose becomes our mission. John 17:15 is not only a prayer—it is an invitation to live fearlessly, faithfully, and fully dependent on the God who keeps us secure.

A prominent verse related to generational stewardship of money is Proverbs 13:22, which states, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children."
This verse suggests that part of being a good steward of wealth includes planning for the future and ensuring the well-being of future generations of kingdom builders.
This verse is often cited in discussions about financial planning and legacy, it's important to remember that the Bible also emphasizes the importance of giving to those in need and being content with what one has, rather than accumulating wealth for its own sake.
The focus should be on using resources wisely and for God's glory first and foremost, NOT simply leaving a large sum of generational money.
My mission is to serve followers of Christ through helping them become builders of His kingdom. Trading is NOT a get rich scheme, rather it's a skillset that when applied from the perspective of stewarding God's wealth and will first, proves to be incredibly fulfilling!

Opening Prayer (to begin each journaling session)
Heavenly Father, I come before You with an open heart and a willing spirit. As I journal today, help me understand the depth of Your Son’s prayer for me. Reveal Your truth, strengthen my faith, and shape my heart so that I may walk confidently in Your protection and purpose. Holy Spirit, guide my thoughts and teach me what you want me to learn. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Day 1 — Understanding Jesus’ Heart for You
Theme: Jesus prays for your protection because He loves you.
Reflection Prompt: What does it mean to you personally that Jesus prayed for your safety while you remain in the world? How does this reveal His care, concern, and love for you? Write about moments in your life where you have felt His protection, even if you didn’t recognize it at the time.
Day 2 — Living in the World W/O Becoming It
Theme: Remaining present, yet set apart.
Reflection Prompt: In what ways do you feel the world’s influence trying to shape you? How can you remain engaged with people and culture while still honoring God with your thoughts, actions, and decisions? Ask God to show you areas where He is calling you to stand out rather than blend in.
Day 3 — Recognizing Spiritual Warfare
Theme: The reality of the evil one.
Reflection Prompt: Reflect on how spiritual opposition has shown up in your life. What lies, temptations, or distractions does the enemy use against you? How does knowing Jesus prayed for your protection change the way you view these battles?
Day 4 — Confidence Through God’s Protection
Theme: Walking in assurance, not fear.
Reflection Prompt: What fears or anxieties have held you back spiritually or emotionally? Write about how God’s promise of protection empowers you to live with boldness. Ask the Lord to replace fear with trust in His covering.
Day 5 — Living with Purpose in a Hostile World
Theme: You are here for a reason.
Reflection Prompt: Why do you believe God has placed you in this world at this specific time? Reflect on your spiritual gifts, your influence, and the people you are called to reach. How can you actively live out your purpose this week?
Day 6 — Dependence on the Holy Spirit
Theme: You are not protected by your strength, but by God’s Spirit.
Reflection Prompt: Where in your life do you rely on your own strength instead of God’s? Invite the Holy Spirit to take the lead in those areas. Reflect on how His presence helps you discern truth, overcome temptation, and stay grounded in your identity.
Day 7 — Embracing Jesus’ Prayer as Lifestyle
Theme: Choosing to live daily under His prayer.
Reflection Prompt: How can you make John 17:15 a part of your everyday thinking? What habits, prayers, or mindsets can help you stay aware of God’s protection and mission for you? Write a declaration of faith for yourself—a statement of trust in God’s protection and your commitment to walking boldly in His purpose.
Closing Prayer (to end each journaling session)
Father, thank You for guiding me through today’s reflection. I am grateful for Your protection, Your presence, and Your purpose for my life. Help me to walk in the truth of Jesus’ prayer, trusting that You guard me from the enemy and equip me to live boldly for Your Kingdom. Seal these lessons in my heart, and continue to strengthen me as I grow in You. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.

Closing thoughts as we pray for those reading or hearing this verse today...
Dear Beloved in Christ,
You Are Protected Right Where God Has Placed You
I wanted to take a moment to encourage you with the powerful truth found in John 17:15, where Jesus prays, “My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.”
It’s incredible to realize that before going to the cross, Jesus prayed specifically for His followers—and that includes you today. He didn’t ask the Father to remove us from challenges, pressures, or the brokenness of this world. Instead, He asked for something greater: divine protection, spiritual covering, and strength to stand firm right where we are.
This verse reminds us that our presence in the world has purpose. God has planted you in your season, your relationships, your workplace, and your circumstances with intention. You are not exposed, vulnerable, or forgotten. You are kept, guarded, and shielded by the very One who prayed for you. The enemy may try to discourage, distract, or deceive, but Jesus has already interceded for your protection. That should give you confidence, peace, and courage to continue walking forward in faith.
Whatever you are facing today—uncertainty, spiritual warfare, relational strains, inner battles—stand firm knowing Jesus has you covered. His prayer is still active, still powerful, and still working on your behalf. You’re not fighting alone.
May you feel the strength of His protection and the comfort of His presence today.
With you in faith 🙏🏻
