Greetings,
You Are Never Alone—God Is With You
“The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” — Psalm 118:6

Unpacking the Message of Psalm 118:6
Psalm 118:6 delivers an unshakeable declaration of confidence: “The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” At first glance, it seems like a simple statement of courage, but when you sit with it, you begin to notice that this verse is not rooted in human boldness; it’s anchored in the presence and faithfulness of God Himself. The psalmist isn’t saying, “I’m strong enough to overcome fear,” but rather, “God is with me—therefore fear cannot dominate me.” This is a shift in focus from self-reliance to divine reliance, a shift from looking inward for courage to looking upward for strength.
This passage reminds us that fear is often rooted in the illusion that we are alone. When we face threats, criticism, danger, uncertainty, or spiritual attack, we naturally feel vulnerable because we feel isolated. But the power of Psalm 118:6 lies in its opening words: “The Lord is with me.” Everything that follows—courage, confidence, freedom from fear—flows from that truth. If God, the Creator of heaven and earth, the One who holds all authority, the One who speaks and mountains move—if He is with you, then the question is not “Will I survive this?” but “Why should I fear it at all?” His presence changes the entire emotional landscape of the moment.
This verse actually confronts our modern anxieties in a deep way. Many of our fears today revolve around people—fear of rejection, fear of criticism, fear of failure that others might witness, fear of losing approval, fear of being misunderstood, fear of being judged unfairly. That’s why the second line of the verse hits home: “What can mere mortals do to me?” When the psalmist says “mere mortals,” he’s placing people in their proper perspective. Humans have limitations, but God has none. People can harm our feelings, threaten our comfort, misunderstand us, oppose us, or reject us—but they cannot override God’s plan for our lives. They cannot cancel His calling, diminish His presence, or reverse His promises. They cannot touch the eternal work He is doing in us. So the question becomes: If people cannot undo what God has ordained, then why do we give them so much power in our hearts?
This verse invites us to re-evaluate the weight we place on human opinions and human threats. Often, the loudest voice in our minds is not the voice of God but the echo of what people think or what we fear they might think. But Psalm 118:6 teaches us that the presence of God must become louder than the presence of fear. His nearness must outweigh the noise of insecurity. Courage grows when the reality of God’s closeness becomes more real than the perceived power of people.
It’s also important to understand that the courage described here isn’t the absence of danger—it's the refusal to let danger define the narrative. The psalmist was likely facing opponents, pressure, and genuine threats, yet he chooses to center his heart on God’s companionship. Fear says, “What if?” but faith says, “Even if.” Fear imagines the worst-case scenario, but faith declares that no scenario exists outside of God’s sovereignty. Fear focuses on the enemy; faith focuses on the One who commands the armies of heaven. Fear looks at circumstances; faith looks at the God who reigns over them.
The phrase “The Lord is with me” carries a relational intimacy echoed throughout Scripture. God spoke these same words to Joshua as he stepped into unfamiliar territory. Jesus echoed them when He promised, “I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Paul echoed them when he wrote, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Psalm 118:6 is part of a long biblical thread that reveals God’s heart not just to lead His people, but to accompany them every step of the way. The presence of God is not theoretical; it is personal, active, and continuous. That means God is not merely watching you face challenges—He is walking with you through them.

Another layer of this verse speaks to spiritual warfare. Fear is one of the enemy’s favorite weapons. He doesn’t have authority to ruin our salvation, but he seeks to ruin our peace by convincing us that we are vulnerable, unprotected, or forgotten. Psalm 118:6 is a sword against that lie. It is a declaration of ownership: “I belong to God, and He is with me. Therefore, fear has no place.” This is not positive thinking; it is spiritual truth. When you boldly declare the truth of God’s presence, you confront the enemy’s strategies head-on and remind your soul of the reality that heaven is backing you.
This verse also pushes us to consider how fear influences our obedience. Sometimes we hesitate to follow God’s call because we fear how people will respond. We fear stepping into ministry. We fear standing for righteousness in a world that rejects it. We fear being bold about our faith. We fear surrendering control. But when the heart truly grasps that God is with us, bold obedience becomes not only possible but natural. The psalmist is essentially saying, “Why fear walking in God’s way when the God who leads me is also the God who walks beside me?” Obedience becomes easier when fear loses its grip.
It’s also helpful to see this verse as an invitation to practice spiritual courage daily, not just in dramatic moments. The courage to say “no” to temptation. The courage to forgive someone who hurt you. The courage to trust God’s timing. The courage to let go of anxiety. The courage to move forward when you feel inadequate. The courage to choose faith when the future feels uncertain. Courage isn’t just for crisis; it’s for everyday living. Psalm 118:6 calls us to wake up each morning with the awareness that God is present, therefore fear doesn’t get to steer the direction of our day.
This passage leads us toward one more truth: joy is often on the other side of fear. When fear loses its power, the human heart becomes lighter, more open to God’s blessings, more able to step into the freedom He promises. Fear binds, but God’s presence breaks chains. Fear shrinks your world, but God enlarges it. Fear limits your steps, but God strengthens them. When you embrace the truth of Psalm 118:6, you begin living with a freer spirit—more confident, more peaceful, more rooted in God’s love.
Ultimately, this verse is about identity and security. The psalmist is confident not because of who he is, but because of whose he is. His safety, confidence, and courage are grounded in God’s unchanging presence. And the same is true for you today: if God is with you—and He is—then you truly have nothing to fear. People, circumstances, trials, and uncertainties may surround you, but they do not hold authority over your life. The One who is with you is greater than anything that comes against you.
Psalm 118:6 invites us to plant our feet firmly on the truth of God’s presence and walk forward without fear, knowing that no matter what comes, God is beside us, before us, behind us, and within us. And with Him, we can say confidently, courageously, and joyfully: “I will not be afraid.”

A prominent verse related to generational stewardship of money is Proverbs 13:22, which states, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children."
This verse suggests that part of being a good steward of wealth includes planning for the future and ensuring the well-being of future generations of kingdom builders.
This verse is often cited in discussions about financial planning and legacy, it's important to remember that the Bible also emphasizes the importance of giving to those in need and being content with what one has, rather than accumulating wealth for its own sake.
The focus should be on using resources wisely and for God's glory first and foremost, NOT simply leaving a large sum of generational money.
My mission is to serve followers of Christ through helping them become builders of His kingdom. Trading is NOT a get rich scheme, rather it's a skillset that when applied from the perspective of stewarding God's wealth and will first, proves to be incredibly fulfilling!

Here is our 7-day journaling plan built around Psalm 118:6, each day including an opening prayer, guided reflection prompts, and a closing prayer.
The plan helps the reader internalize the truth that “The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
Day 1 — God’s Presence Removes Fear
Opening Prayer: Lord, as I begin this journey, calm my mind and open my heart to Your presence. Help me to understand what it truly means that You are with me. Amen.
Reflection: Reflect on moments in your life when you have been afraid. What caused that fear? How did you respond? Now write about how the promise “The Lord is with me” speaks directly to those fears. Consider whether you’ve been trying to carry your concerns alone, and invite God into them on paper today.
Closing Prayer: Father, thank You for being with me in every fear and every moment. Teach me to trust You more deeply each day. Amen.
Day 2 — Identifying What Tries to Intimidate You
Opening Prayer: Lord, guide me today as I uncover the things that try to shake my confidence. Help me to see them through Your truth and not through fear. Amen.
Reflection: Write out the people, situations, or pressures that feel intimidating or overwhelming. Then reflect on the second line of the verse: “What can mere mortals do to me?” Consider how God’s authority outweighs earthly threats. What shifts in your thinking when you view your challenges through God’s power instead of human influence?
Closing Prayer: God, remind me daily that no person has more authority than You. Anchor my heart in Your strength. Amen.
Day 3 — Confidence in God’s Protection
Opening Prayer: Lord, teach me today about Your protection. Let my spirit rest in the assurance that You defend me. Amen.
Reflection: Think about ways God has protected you in the past—even in ways you didn’t realize until later. Write a short list of examples, then journal about how remembering God’s faithfulness strengthens your trust today. How would your decisions change if you truly lived knowing God is actively protecting you?
Closing Prayer: Father, thank You for being my shield. Grow my awareness of Your covering over every area of my life. Amen.
Day 4 — Courage in Daily Life
Opening Prayer: Lord, fill me with courage today. Show me what boldness looks like when it’s rooted in You. Amen.
Reflection: Where in your life do you need courage right now? Write about a situation where fear has held you back—spiritually, relationally, financially, or emotionally. Reflect on how God’s nearness empowers you to move forward. Describe what one courageous step would look like.
Closing Prayer: God, strengthen me to walk in courage, knowing You go before me in all things. Amen.
Day 5 — Shifting Mindsets From Fear to Faith
Opening Prayer: Holy Spirit, renew my mind today. Help me see where fear has shaped my thinking and replace it with faith. Amen.
Reflection: Journal about the thoughts you tend to have when fear rises up. Are they rooted in truth or assumption? How does Psalm 118:6 challenge those patterns? Write a “fear thought” and then counter it with a “faith truth” based on this verse.
Closing Prayer: Lord, transform my thinking. Let faith be my first response, not fear. Amen.
Day 6 — Walking in the Reality of God’s Presence
Opening Prayer: Lord, help me experience Your presence in a real and personal way today. Make this verse alive in my spirit. Amen.
Reflection: What would your day look like if you walked through every moment aware that “The Lord is with me”? Imagine your morning, your conversations, your decisions, your reactions. Write about how His presence would change your posture, tone, confidence, and peace. Commit one specific behavior to practice today.
Closing Prayer: Father, make me increasingly aware of Your presence. Let it shape everything I do. Amen.
Day 7 — Living Fearlessly With God
Opening Prayer: Lord, as I conclude this week, reveal how You’ve been working in my heart. Continue to strengthen my spirit with Your Word. Amen.
Reflection: Review your notes from the past six days. Write about the growth you’ve seen—big or small. How has your understanding of fear changed? How has your understanding of God’s presence deepened? Describe what a long-term lifestyle of “I will not be afraid” looks like for you moving forward.
Closing Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for walking with me this week. Seal Your truth in my heart and empower me to live fearlessly in Your presence. Amen.

Closing thoughts as we pray for those reading or hearing this verse today...
Dear Beloved in Christ,
You Are Never Alone—God Is With You
There are moments in life when fear tries to tighten its grip—when challenges rise, when uncertainty whispers, and when people’s opinions or actions feel heavy.
But into those very moments, God speaks a powerful reminder:
“The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” — Psalm 118:6
This is not just a comforting phrase—it is a declaration of spiritual confidence.
When the Lord Himself stands beside you, no human threat, no earthly circumstance, and no opposition can truly overpower you.
God’s presence is your courage. His nearness is your stability. His protection is your peace.
When fear begins to speak, speak back with faith: The Lord is with me.
When doubt rises, remind your soul: I will not be afraid.
When others oppose or misunderstand you, anchor your heart in this truth: What can mere mortals do to me when God Almighty guards my steps?
Today, rest in the assurance that the God who created the heavens walks beside you. You are protected, strengthened, and upheld by His hand. Fear has no authority where His presence resides.
Stand firm. Walk boldly. You are never alone.
In Christ’s unfailing peace 🙏🏻
