What is receiving the greatest investment of time, energy, and affection? These questions reveal whether Christ or the world sits at the center of one’s priorities.
The verse also teaches that the soul cannot be satisfied by worldly gain alone. Human beings were created for relationship with God, and no earthly achievement can fill the spiritual longing within the heart. Temporary pleasures may distract for a moment, but they cannot provide lasting peace or purpose.
