Greetings,
The Power of Your Words in Christ
“The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked is of little value.” — Proverbs 10:20

Unpacking the Message of Proverbs 10:20
Proverbs 10:20 offers a profound and timeless contrast between two types of people—the righteous and the wicked—using the imagery of the tongue and the heart to reveal the true nature of a person. The verse states, “The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked is of little value.” This scripture draws a line between words that are precious and life-giving, and inner motives that produce nothing of worth. It is a reminder that the true measure of a person’s character is revealed both in what they say and in the condition of their heart.
The first half of the verse compares the speech of the righteous to “choice silver,” a metal that is refined, valuable, and enduring. Silver in biblical times was not only a symbol of wealth but also of purity. In the same way, the words that come from a righteous person have been refined through wisdom, experience, humility, and a heart aligned with God. These words are not reckless or cheap. They carry weight, bring encouragement, offer guidance, and reflect the truth of God’s character. Such speech is treasured because it builds rather than destroys.
On the other hand, the verse contrasts this richness with a stark truth: “the heart of the wicked is of little value.” While the righteous speak words of life, the wicked harbor hearts that produce no lasting worth. The issue here isn’t merely about speech but the internal condition that shapes it. A wicked heart lacks wisdom, compassion, humility, and godly fear. Because it is disconnected from God, it cannot produce anything valuable, meaningful, or life-giving. The heart determines the fruit, and a fruitless heart leads to fruitless living.
This proverb also reveals a deeper spiritual principle—words reflect the heart. Jesus Himself teaches that “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” The righteous tongue is valuable not because of eloquence, education, or charm, but because it flows from a heart that desires righteousness, truth, and alignment with God. Conversely, the wicked heart, empty of godly content, simply cannot produce words or actions of value. The problem is not the tongue itself but the spiritual emptiness behind it.
Proverbs 10:20 additionally invites believers to consider the power of influence. People naturally place value on what resonates with wisdom, truth, and goodness. Righteous speech becomes a gift not only to the speaker but to everyone who hears it. Words have the power to build faith, restore hope, bring clarity, and strengthen relationships. When our hearts are rooted in Christ, our speech becomes a ministry—an outward expression of God’s work within us.

This verse also warns us not to be deceived by appearances. Someone may possess charisma, intelligence, or outward success, but if their heart is far from God, the value of their words and actions is ultimately empty. True worth is not measured by what we project to others but by the spiritual condition of our inner life. God looks not at outward impressiveness but at the heart—and its impact is revealed through speech.
Furthermore, Proverbs 10:20 challenges believers to pursue continual refinement. Just as silver must be purified to reveal its worth, so must our hearts undergo the refining work of the Holy Spirit. This process may involve conviction, repentance, humility, and growth, but the result is a heart that produces wisdom, kindness, and truth. The more God refines us internally, the more valuable our words become externally.
The verse also emphasizes responsibility. As followers of Christ, we are called to steward our words with care and intentionality. Every conversation becomes an opportunity to reflect Christ. Every response becomes an opportunity to choose grace over bitterness. Every moment of frustration becomes an opportunity to honor God rather than react in the flesh. Our words are a witness, and their value or worthlessness often determines how others perceive the gospel we carry.
Lastly, Proverbs 10:20 offers both comfort and challenge. The comfort is that God can transform even the most wounded or misguided heart, shaping it into something precious. The challenge is that believers must be willing to let Him do that work, allowing Him to refine their thoughts, motives, and speech. A righteous tongue is the natural overflow of a surrendered heart. And when our hearts belong fully to Him, our words become instruments of His truth, reflecting the priceless nature of His wisdom.
In its fullness, Proverbs 10:20 calls us to cultivate hearts that treasure righteousness so deeply that our words become a blessing, our influence becomes meaningful, and our lives become testimonies to the transforming power of God.

A prominent verse related to generational stewardship of money is Proverbs 13:22, which states, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children."
This verse suggests that part of being a good steward of wealth includes planning for the future and ensuring the well-being of future generations of kingdom builders.
This verse is often cited in discussions about financial planning and legacy, it's important to remember that the Bible also emphasizes the importance of giving to those in need and being content with what one has, rather than accumulating wealth for its own sake.
The focus should be on using resources wisely and for God's glory first and foremost, NOT simply leaving a large sum of generational money.
My mission is to serve followers of Christ through helping them become builders of His kingdom. Trading is NOT a get rich scheme, rather it's a skillset that when applied from the perspective of stewarding God's wealth and will first, proves to be incredibly fulfilling!

DAY 1 — The Value of Righteous Speech
Opening Prayer: Lord Jesus, open my heart to the power and responsibility of my words. Teach me why righteous speech matters and how it honors You. Amen.
Journaling Focus: Reflect on the phrase “the tongue of the righteous is choice silver.” What does it mean for your words to have value? Write about moments when someone’s words strengthened you and how that reflects godly wisdom. Consider how God may be calling you to elevate the value of your own speech.
Closing Prayer: Father, help my words shine with Your wisdom and grace. Purify my speech so that it reflects Your heart. Amen.
DAY 2 — Examining the Condition of Your Heart
Opening Prayer: Holy Spirit, search my heart today. Reveal attitudes, wounds, or motives that need Your healing and correction. Amen.
Journaling Focus: The verse contrasts the righteous tongue with the worthless heart of the wicked. Write honestly about the current condition of your own heart. Are there attitudes of frustration, pride, impatience, or bitterness? Ask God to show you areas in need of His refining.
Closing Prayer: Lord, cleanse my heart. Remove anything that hinders righteousness and fill me with Your love. Amen.
DAY 3 — The Connection Between Heart and Speech
Opening Prayer: Father, help me understand how my words reveal what is happening inside of me. Teach me to guard my heart so that my speech honors You. Amen.
Journaling Focus: Reflect on how your words change when you are tired, upset, or spiritually dry. How does your emotional or spiritual state influence what comes out of your mouth? Write about times when your words reflected Christ—and times when they didn’t.
Closing Prayer: Jesus, align my heart with Yours so that my words naturally reflect Your goodness. Amen.
DAY 4 — Becoming a Voice of Life and Encouragement
Opening Prayer: Lord, make me a vessel of life-giving words today. Help me see opportunities to encourage, uplift, and guide others. Amen.

Closing Prayer: Father, use my words today to bless others. Let my voice reflect Your kindness and truth. Amen.
DAY 5 — Identifying and Surrendering Harmful Speech
Opening Prayer: Lord, bring to light any patterns of speech in my life that do not honor You. Give me the courage to face them honestly. Amen.
Journaling Focus: Write about habits of speech that may need refinement—complaining, gossip, sarcasm, harshness, impatience, or negativity. How do these patterns affect others and your spiritual walk? Invite God to help you surrender and transform these areas.
Closing Prayer: Jesus, break every pattern of harmful speech in my life. Replace them with words that reflect Your Spirit. Amen.
DAY 6 — Pursuing a Pure and Teachable Heart
Opening Prayer: Holy Spirit, create in me a clean heart. Make me humble, teachable, and receptive to Your correction. Amen.
Journaling Focus: The value of righteous speech begins with the value of a righteous heart. Write about what it means to you to have a “pure heart.” Reflect on how humility, repentance, compassion, and teachability shape the way you speak.

Closing Prayer: Jesus, thank You for the work You’ve done in me. Help me walk daily with a transformed heart and a righteous tongue that honors You. Amen.

Closing thoughts as we pray for those reading or hearing this verse today...
Dear Beloved in Christ,
The Power of Your Words in Christ
I pray your day is filled with peace and clarity. I wanted to share a verse that has been speaking deeply to me lately:
“The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked is of little value.” — Proverbs 10:20
This verse is a powerful reminder of how precious our words can be when they flow from a heart aligned with God. Scripture teaches that when we walk with Christ, our speech has weight, influence, and eternal value.
God uses the words of the righteous to encourage, uplift, guide, and heal.
At the same time, this verse challenges us to be intentional about the condition of our hearts. A heart disconnected from God produces words without life, purpose, or truth—but a heart surrendered to Jesus becomes a vessel for His wisdom and grace.
Today, I encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit to shape your heart and guard your speech. Let your words reflect the love, kindness, and truth of Christ.
Let them be “choice silver”—precious, meaningful, and filled with life.
I’m praying that God continues to transform your heart and strengthen your voice so that everything you say points others toward Him.
Warm blessings 🙏🏻
