Greetings,

The Path to True Honor

“Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the Lord, and humility comes before honor.”

— Proverbs 15:33

Proverbs 15:33

Unpacking Proverbs 15:33

Proverbs 15:33, “Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the Lord, and humility comes before honor,” reveals profound truths about the interconnectedness of wisdom, reverence for God, and the virtue of humility. This verse serves as both a guide and a reminder of the values that underpin a life pleasing to God. It challenges us to reflect on the nature of true wisdom and the paths that lead to both spiritual and earthly honor.

The verse begins with the assertion that “Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the Lord.” Here, wisdom is portrayed not merely as intellectual knowledge or skill but as a way of living aligned with God’s truth. The fear of the Lord is foundational to this wisdom. This fear is not terror or dread but a profound reverence and awe for God’s holiness, power, and authority. It involves recognizing His sovereignty and submitting to His will. Such reverence places God at the center of our lives, shaping our decisions, priorities, and relationships.

The instruction to fear the Lord implies that wisdom is not an innate human quality but something cultivated through a relationship with God. It is a divine gift, one that grows as we deepen our understanding of who God is and what He desires for our lives. This perspective counters the world’s definition of wisdom, which often prioritizes self-reliance and human achievement. True wisdom begins with acknowledging our dependence on God and aligning our lives with His purposes.

The second part of the verse, “humility comes before honor,” introduces a countercultural truth. In a world that often glorifies self-promotion and ambition, this verse teaches that genuine honor is preceded by humility. Humility is the recognition of our limitations and the acknowledgment of God’s greatness. It is the willingness to put others before ourselves, to serve rather than seek to be served, and to admit our need for God’s guidance and grace.

Humility also positions us to receive honor in a way that glorifies God rather than exalting ourselves. When we are humble, we are teachable, open to correction, and able to grow in character. This readiness to learn and serve prepares us for the responsibilities that come with honor. Honor, when given by God, is not about personal glory but about being entrusted with greater opportunities to reflect His goodness and grace.

Together, these two statements—fearing the Lord and embracing humility—form a pathway to a life of integrity and purpose. The fear of the Lord anchors us in a proper relationship with God, while humility enables us to live in harmony with others. Both qualities are essential for experiencing the fullness of life that God desires for us.

This verse also invites reflection on the relationship between wisdom, humility, and honor in our daily lives. To fear the Lord means seeking His wisdom in every decision, from the mundane to the monumental. It means prioritizing prayer, Scripture, and godly counsel as we navigate life’s complexities. Humility, meanwhile, calls us to approach others with grace and respect, recognizing their inherent worth as God’s creation.

The promise of honor that follows humility speaks to God’s faithfulness. When we humble ourselves before Him, He lifts us up in due time (1 Peter 5:6). This honor may not always come in the form of worldly recognition but in the peace, purpose, and joy that come from living in alignment with God’s will. It is the honor of being used by God to make a difference in the lives of others and to bring glory to His name.

Proverbs 15:33 also challenges us to examine our motives and attitudes. Are we seeking wisdom for personal gain or to better serve God and others? Are we pursuing honor through self-promotion or through a life marked by humility and service? These questions help us align our hearts with the truths of this verse.

Closing thoughts as I pray for those reading or hearing this verse today...

This passage teaches that the fear of the Lord and humility are not merely virtues to be admired but disciplines to be practiced.

They require intentionality, self-reflection, and a willingness to trust in God’s timing and ways.

As we grow in these qualities, we discover that true wisdom and honor come not from striving but from surrendering to the God who is the source of all good things.

This verse invites us to live a life that is both grounded in reverence for God and characterized by a humility that reflects His heart.

In our journey as believers, we are reminded that true wisdom begins with reverence for God.

To walk in His ways means embracing humility, knowing that our strength and achievements are ultimately gifts from Him.

It is this humility that paves the way for the honor that comes from living a life devoted to His will.

Let us approach each day with the mindset that genuine growth and recognition come when we put God first and others before ourselves.

Embrace humility, and trust that in due time, God’s honor will follow.

Waiting it out played in my favor to close out the week!

Welcome to today’s live session recap. I hope everyone is doing well and making strides in their trading journey. As we wrap up this trading week, I want to share the insights and trade setups that shaped today's session.

It’s Friday, and we were fortunate to have some excellent trends, particularly in the indices.

Market Overview: Indices Performance

chart

The morning started with significant momentum across the Nasdaq and S&P 500.

Both indices experienced strong pushes to the downside, offering traders substantial opportunities for short positions.

The trending conditions this morning were exactly what we look for as retail traders: clear, directional movement with manageable volatility. For those interested in visual analysis, I’ll include some detailed images of these trends in the blog post.

Crude Oil: A Slow Start with a Promising Finish

Crude oil, on the other hand, was more challenging. Early in the session, crude lacked the clarity and momentum needed for solid trading opportunities. The market was choppy, with prices oscillating within a narrow range. Recognizing this, I held back and chose not to engage in trades that could jeopardize the gains made earlier in the week.

One of the most crucial lessons in trading is knowing when not to trade. A choppy market often leads to frustration and losses, so I opted to stay on the sidelines while waiting for a more definitive move. The key to longevity in trading is patience and preserving capital by choosing only high-probability setups.

When Opportunity Struck: Midday Breakout

The turning point came around 12:20 PM. Crude oil finally showed signs of breaking out of its range, presenting a favorable momentum push into some liquidity zones. This was the opportunity I had been waiting for. By carefully watching market developments while attending to other tasks at my desk, I was ready to jump in as soon as conditions aligned.

I entered a position during this momentum move, and it paid off as the market pushed forward with strength. The trade was executed smoothly, and it provided a great end to an already profitable week. With this successful trade, I was confident in calling it a week and wrapping up on a positive note.

Key Takeaways for Retail Traders

  1. Patience Pays Off: Today’s session underscored the importance of waiting for the right setup. Early on, crude oil didn’t present a worthwhile opportunity, so I stayed out until conditions changed. This kind of discipline prevents unnecessary losses and keeps you prepared for high-quality trades.

  2. Adaptability is Essential: While the Nasdaq and S&P 500 offered strong moves early in the day, crude oil didn’t align until later. Being able to shift focus and adapt to different market conditions is critical for any trader looking to capitalize on opportunities across various assets.

  3. Only Trade When the Market is Moving: One of the most valuable lessons I've learned from years of trading is that trading during low-volatility or choppy conditions often leads to losses. Today was a prime example; while the indices were trending, crude oil was stuck in a range. Waiting for the breakout saved me from potential losses and allowed me to end the week strong.

Wrapping Up the Week

Overall, this week was successful. Today’s patient approach and willingness to wait for a solid setup were essential to protecting gains and making a smart trade.

As I head into the weekend, I’m pleased with how the week unfolded and am grateful for the lessons reinforced during today's session.

I hope you all had a productive week and are ready to enjoy a well-deserved break.

Remember, trading is a marathon, not a sprint. It’s about taking calculated risks and understanding when to engage and when to hold back.

No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown. One of the limitations of hypothetical performance results is that they are generally prepared with the benefit of hindsight. In addition, hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk, and no hypothetical trading record can completely account for the impact of financial risk in actual trading. For example, the ability to withstand losses or to adhere to a particular trading program in spite of trading losses are material points which can also adversely affect actual trading results. There are numerous other factors related to the markets in general or to the implementation of any specific trading program which cannot be fully accounted for in the preparation of hypothetical performance results and all of which can adversely affect actual trading results.
