Greetings,
One Man’s Obedience Changed Everything
“For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.” — Romans 5:19

Unpacking the Message of Romans 5:19
Romans 5:19 says, “For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.” This single verse captures the essence of the entire Gospel — the story of humanity’s fall and redemption. It reveals both the seriousness of sin and the magnificence of grace, both the consequence of disobedience and the glory of obedience. Let’s take some time to truly unpack what this verse means for our daily lives, our relationship with God, and our calling as followers of Christ.
We begin with the phrase, “through the disobedience of the one man.” Paul is referring to Adam, the first man created by God, who chose to disobey the command given in the Garden of Eden. That one act of rebellion wasn’t simply about eating forbidden fruit — it was about humanity’s decision to choose independence over intimacy, self over surrender. When Adam sinned, the human story was rewritten. The purity of creation was fractured, and sin entered not as an occasional stumble but as a condition of the heart. Every person born after Adam carried that mark — a nature inclined to rebel against God’s will.
But this verse doesn’t stop with the fall. Paul immediately contrasts Adam’s failure with Christ’s faithfulness. He says, “so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.” Where Adam said “my will,” Jesus said “not my will, but Yours be done.” Through Christ’s obedience — His perfect, unwavering submission to the Father — the curse of sin was broken. On the cross, Jesus reversed the decision Adam made in the garden. Where disobedience brought death, obedience brought life.
This is the breathtaking heart of the Gospel: what Adam ruined, Jesus restored. Through one man’s selfishness, the world was condemned; through one man’s surrender, the world was redeemed. It’s not just a story of ancient history — it’s the story of every believer’s life. Each of us has been rescued from the lineage of rebellion and brought into the lineage of righteousness.
Now, let’s bring this closer to home. Christ’s obedience didn’t just save us; it also set the pattern for how we are to live. Obedience in the life of a believer isn’t about blind rule-following or fear of punishment. It’s about alignment with the heart of God. Jesus showed us that obedience flows from love. He said in John 14:15, “If you love me, keep my commands.” Obedience isn’t a burden; it’s an expression of devotion. When we obey, we are saying, “God, I trust You more than I trust myself.”
We live in a world that celebrates independence — where doing what feels right is glorified, and surrender is seen as weakness. But in the Kingdom of God, the opposite is true. Real strength is found in submission. Real freedom is found in obedience. When we align our lives with God’s Word, we’re not losing control — we’re placing control in the hands of the One who knows the end from the beginning.
Think about Jesus’ obedience for a moment. It wasn’t easy. In Gethsemane, He faced the weight of the world’s sin. He felt the pull of human fear, the agony of anticipation, the pain of what was to come. Yet He chose obedience. He chose the Father’s will over His comfort. That’s the obedience Romans 5:19 speaks of — not convenience-based compliance, but costly, committed surrender.
When we obey God in our own lives — whether it’s forgiving someone who’s wronged us, speaking truth in love, walking in integrity when no one’s watching, or trusting His timing instead of forcing our own — we participate in the same kind of obedience that Jesus modeled. Every small act of obedience has eternal significance, because it reflects the righteousness we’ve been given through Him.

Here’s the beauty of this truth: obedience is not what earns us righteousness — it’s the evidence of the righteousness we’ve already received. Because of Jesus, we are declared righteous before God. That means we don’t strive to be accepted; we obey because we already are. Grace empowers us to live out what the law could never accomplish.
So, how do we walk this out daily? We start by listening. Obedience begins with sensitivity to the Spirit’s voice. God’s Word and Spirit will always lead us toward what is good, true, and life-giving. When we read Scripture, when we pray, when we pause in the middle of our day to ask, “Lord, what would You have me do here?”, we are cultivating a heart that hears and obeys.
We must also remember that obedience will often call us against the current. It may not always make sense to others. It may even cost us something — a relationship, an opportunity, our comfort. But every time we choose obedience, we’re partnering with the same power that brought Jesus from death to life. The fruit of obedience is peace, strength, and an unshakable joy that can’t be found in the fleeting rewards of this world.
Let’s take this even deeper: through Christ’s obedience, “the many will be made righteous.” That includes you, me, and every believer across the generations. It means that when we walk in obedience today, we’re not just impacting our own lives — we’re influencing others toward righteousness. Our faithfulness becomes a living testimony that points people back to Jesus. When others see a man or woman of integrity, peace, and grace under pressure, they encounter the aroma of Christ Himself.
Obedience, then, becomes contagious. It multiplies righteousness in the world. Just as Adam’s disobedience spread sin through humanity, our obedience — empowered by Christ — spreads the influence of His Kingdom. The ripple effect of one surrendered life can change families, workplaces, and even nations.
Romans 5:19 reminds us of the profound weight and beauty of our choices. The story of humanity began with disobedience but ends in redemption. It began in a garden of rebellion but culminated in a garden of resurrection. And through the obedience of one man — Jesus — the many are made righteous.
So today, as followers of Christ, let us walk in that same spirit of obedience. Let’s remember that each step of surrender is a declaration of trust in God’s plan. Let’s fix our eyes on Jesus, who turned disobedience into deliverance, and let our lives echo His “yes” to the Father. For through that obedience, we too become vessels of His righteousness — living proof that grace has the final word.

A prominent verse related to generational stewardship of money is Proverbs 13:22, which states, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children."
This verse suggests that part of being a good steward of wealth includes planning for the future and ensuring the well-being of future generations of kingdom builders.
This verse is often cited in discussions about financial planning and legacy, it's important to remember that the Bible also emphasizes the importance of giving to those in need and being content with what one has, rather than accumulating wealth for its own sake.
The focus should be on using resources wisely and for God's glory first and foremost, NOT simply leaving a large sum of generational money.
My mission is to serve followers of Christ through helping them become builders of His kingdom. Trading is NOT a get rich scheme, rather it's a skillset that when applied from the perspective of stewarding God's wealth and will first, proves to be incredibly fulfilling!

Here’s our 7-day journaling plan built around Romans 5:19 —
“For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.”
This plan invites deep reflection on obedience, righteousness, and the transforming grace of Christ that turns rebellion into redemption...
🌅 Daily Opening Prayer – Before Journaling
“Prayer of Surrendered Obedience” Heavenly Father, As I come before You today, I quiet my heart to hear Your voice. Thank You for the gift of Your Word — flawless, true, and alive. Through the obedience of Jesus, I have been made righteous, restored, and free. Help me, Lord, to walk in that same spirit of obedience — not out of duty, but out of love. Open my heart to understand what You are teaching me in this moment. Let this time of reflection draw me closer to Your will and strengthen my faith in Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Day 1: The Ripple of One Decision
Focus: Reflect on how Adam’s single act of disobedience affected all humanity — and how Jesus’ single act of obedience restored it.
Prompt: Think about a time when your own obedience or disobedience had a ripple effect on others. How does this help you appreciate the impact of Christ’s obedience on your life?
Prayer Focus: Thank God for sending Jesus to undo the curse of sin and to bring righteousness through His perfect obedience.
Day 2: Understanding Righteousness
Focus: We are made righteous, not by our works, but through faith in Christ’s obedience.
Prompt: Write about what “being made righteous” means to you personally. How does knowing you are justified through Christ change the way you see yourself and your relationship with God?
Prayer Focus: Ask God to help you rest in His righteousness and stop striving for approval that He’s already given.
Day 3: Obedience as Love
Focus: Jesus obeyed the Father out of love, not obligation. True obedience flows from the heart, not from fear.
Prompt: In what areas of your life do you tend to obey out of duty rather than love? How can you invite God to transform that into joyful obedience?
Prayer Focus: Pray for a heart that delights in doing God’s will — that your obedience would be an act of love.
Day 4: The Cost of Obedience
Focus: Christ’s obedience led Him to the cross. Real obedience often comes with sacrifice.
Prompt: Reflect on a time when obeying God required you to let go of something or endure discomfort. What fruit came from that decision?
Prayer Focus: Ask for courage to say “yes” to God, even when obedience feels costly or inconvenient.
Day 5: Learning to Listen
Focus: Obedience begins with hearing. Jesus said He only did what He saw the Father doing.
Prompt: How do you currently make space in your life to hear God’s voice? What distractions might be keeping you from listening closely?
Prayer Focus: Ask the Holy Spirit to sharpen your spiritual ears so you can recognize His guidance and respond quickly.
Day 6: Obedience in the Small Things
Focus: Big obedience begins with small faithfulness. God often tests our hearts through the everyday moments of life.
Prompt: Identify one small area today where you can practice obedience — a conversation, a decision, a habit. Write about how that act could honor God.
Prayer Focus: Pray for a faithful heart that obeys in the hidden moments, trusting God to use them for His glory.
Day 7: The Overflow of Righteousness
Focus: Christ’s obedience made many righteous — including you. Your obedience now carries that same potential to influence others toward righteousness.
Prompt: Reflect on how your faithfulness might inspire someone else to draw closer to God. Who in your life could be touched by your obedience?
Prayer Focus: Thank God for making you righteous through Jesus and for using your obedience as a witness of His grace.
🌄 Daily Closing Prayer – After Journaling
“Prayer of Grateful Obedience” Lord Jesus, Thank You for meeting me here in this quiet place. Thank You for reminding me that righteousness is not something I earn, but something You freely give. As I rise from this time with You, may the truths You’ve revealed take root in my heart. Help me to live out what I’ve written — to listen for Your voice, to trust Your commands, and to obey You with joy, even in the small things. May my life reflect Your obedience and bring glory to Your name. In Your precious name, I pray. Amen.

Closing thoughts as we pray for those reading or hearing this verse today...
Dear Beloved in Christ,
One Man’s Obedience Changed Everything
Romans 5:19 reminds us of the incredible power and purpose found in Jesus’ obedience:
“For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.” — Romans 5:19
Adam’s disobedience opened the door to sin and separation — but Jesus’ obedience swung it wide open to grace, forgiveness, and eternal righteousness.
Through Christ, you are no longer bound by what once was broken. You stand redeemed, restored, and made right before God because of His perfect obedience.
Today, let this truth settle in your heart: your standing with God is secure, not because of what you’ve done, but because of what Jesus finished.
Walk boldly in that righteousness. Live freely in that grace. And let your life be a living testimony of gratitude to the One who obeyed perfectly — for you.
In His righteousness 🙏🏻
