Unpacking the Message of Revelation 22:20
Revelation 22:20 stands as one of the final declarations in all of Scripture, carrying both a promise from Christ and a response from His people. The verse says, “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.” These words close the biblical story not with uncertainty, but with hope, expectation, and assurance centered on the return of Jesus Christ.
The phrase “He who testifies to these things” refers to Jesus Himself. Throughout Revelation, He is the faithful witness who reveals God’s truth concerning the future, judgment, redemption, and the fulfillment of God’s kingdom. His testimony is trustworthy because He is both Lord and the one who has already conquered death through His resurrection.
The promise “Yes, I am coming soon” is deeply significant. It reminds believers that history is moving toward a divine conclusion. Christ’s return is not symbolic wishful thinking, but a certain future event. The word “soon” does not necessarily refer only to human timing, but to certainty, readiness, and the nearness of God’s unfolding plan.
This promise speaks directly into the human experience of waiting. Believers throughout history have lived in anticipation of Christ’s return while also enduring suffering, persecution, uncertainty, and brokenness. The promise that Jesus is coming again gives meaning and direction to their endurance. It assures them that evil, pain, and injustice will not have the final word.
The response “Amen” reflects agreement, trust, and surrender. It is the response of faith to the promise of God. By saying “Amen,” believers affirm that they believe Christ’s words are true and trustworthy. It becomes both a declaration of confidence and an act of worship.
The prayer “Come, Lord Jesus” reveals the longing of the believer’s heart. It expresses a desire not merely for escape from hardship, but for the full presence and reign of Christ. This longing reflects love for Jesus Himself and anticipation of complete restoration under His kingdom.
Revelation 22:20 also highlights the tension between the present world and future hope. Believers still live in a broken world marked by suffering, temptation, and imperfection. Yet this verse reminds them that their ultimate hope is not rooted in earthly systems or temporary circumstances, but in the return of Christ.

The verse challenges believers to live with readiness. If Jesus is coming again, then life must be lived with intentionality and faithfulness. The expectation of His return shapes priorities, decisions, and values. It encourages believers to remain spiritually awake and devoted rather than distracted by temporary pursuits.
The promise of Christ’s return also brings comfort. For those who feel weary, discouraged, or burdened by injustice, the assurance that Jesus will return means that restoration is certain. God’s promises will be fulfilled completely, and His kingdom will ultimately prevail.
Revelation 22:20 emphasizes the relational aspect of Christianity. The longing for Christ’s return is rooted in love and relationship, not merely theology. Believers are waiting for a person—their Savior, Redeemer, and King. This longing reflects intimacy with Christ and desire for complete union with Him.
The verse also reveals the faithfulness of Jesus. Throughout Scripture, God consistently keeps His promises. The certainty of Christ’s return is grounded in His character. Because He is faithful, believers can trust that what He has promised will come to pass exactly as He said.
Ultimately, Revelation 22:20 points toward the fulfillment of all God’s redemptive purposes. It anticipates the restoration of creation, the defeat of evil, and eternal fellowship between God and His people. The return of Jesus is the culmination of the gospel story.
In the end, this verse leaves believers with both hope and responsibility. It calls them to live with expectancy, faithfulness, and longing for Christ. It reminds them that history is not aimless, but moving toward the return of the King. Until that day, the prayer of the church remains: “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.”

A prominent verse related to generational stewardship of money is Proverbs 13:22, which states, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children."
This verse suggests that part of being a good steward of wealth includes planning for the future and ensuring the well-being of future generations of kingdom builders.
This verse is often cited in discussions about financial planning and legacy, it's important to remember that the Bible also emphasizes the importance of giving to those in need and being content with what one has, rather than accumulating wealth for its own sake.
The focus should be on using resources wisely and for God's glory first and foremost, NOT simply leaving a large sum of generational money.
My mission is to serve followers of Christ through helping them become builders of His kingdom. Trading is NOT a get rich scheme, rather it's a skillset that when applied from the perspective of stewarding God's wealth and will first, proves to be incredibly fulfilling!

Closing thoughts as we pray for those reading or hearing this verse today...
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the hope found in Your promises and for the assurance that Jesus Christ is coming again. In a world filled with uncertainty, pain, and distraction, Your Word reminds us that our hope is not rooted in temporary things, but in the return of our Savior and King.
Lord, help us live with hearts that long for Jesus more than anything this world can offer. Teach us not to become consumed by fear, comfort, or distraction, but to remain faithful, watchful, and ready. Let the promise of Christ’s return shape the way we think, live, and love each day.
Jesus, thank You that You are faithful to every promise You have spoken. When our faith feels weak or our hearts grow weary, remind us that You are coming soon and that Your kingdom will be fully established. Help us persevere with hope and confidence in You.
Holy Spirit, keep our hearts focused on eternity. Strengthen us to live holy and obedient lives while we wait. Help us walk closely with Christ, share His love boldly, and remain steadfast in truth until the day He returns.
Father, we join in the prayer of Your people throughout the generations:
“Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.”
Until that day, help us remain faithful, joyful, and anchored in the hope of Christ.
In His holy name, Amen 🙏🏻
