Greetings,
Trusting in the Power of Prayer
Matthew 21:22 - “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

Unpacking the Message of Verse Matthew 21:22
Matthew 21:22 contains a powerful and profound promise from Jesus: “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” This verse invites us into a deeper understanding of faith, prayer, and the heart of our relationship with God. Let’s take time to explore how this verse can transform the way we live, pray, and trust in God’s goodness.
This statement from Jesus is not merely about getting what we want; it challenges us to examine what it truly means to believe. Faith, in this context, is not a shallow optimism or a hopeful wish. It’s a deep, abiding trust in God’s character, His love, and His perfect will. When Jesus spoke these words, He had just demonstrated the power of faith through the withering of the fig tree. The disciples marveled at what happened, but Jesus wanted them to understand that the same power is accessible to anyone who genuinely believes and prays with confidence in God. This invites us to consider how often we approach prayer with timid or uncertain hearts rather than with the bold assurance Jesus encourages.
Belief, as Jesus describes it here, is not about manipulating God or demanding our desires be fulfilled. Instead, it is about aligning our hearts with His purposes. When we truly believe, our prayers begin to reflect God’s heart, His desires, and His wisdom. We start asking not just for what we want, but for what He knows is best. And in that alignment, there is a profound promise: we will receive. Not necessarily everything we ask for according to our limited understanding, but everything that fits within God’s perfect, loving, and sovereign plan.
This verse calls us to examine the nature of our prayers. Are we asking with faith, or out of fear and anxiety? Do we trust that God hears us and will act, or do we pray as a formality, secretly doubting that anything will change? Jesus teaches us here that genuine faith transforms prayer from a ritual into a dynamic, life-giving connection with the Father. When we believe, we release our fears and doubts and choose to trust in God’s goodness even when His answers look different from what we expected.
Consider, too, that believing prayer is not passive. It invites us to engage with God daily, to seek His face, and to trust Him even when the answers are delayed or come in unexpected forms. Faith-filled prayer perseveres. It keeps asking, keeps knocking, and keeps seeking, not because we doubt God’s willingness, but because we are confident that in His time and way, He will respond.

It’s important to remember that this promise is not a blank check for selfish desires or material gain. Jesus is not saying, “Believe hard enough, and you can have anything you want.” Rather, He is teaching us that true belief is rooted in relationship—knowing who God is, trusting His heart, and desiring His will above our own. When we pray from that place, our requests are shaped by His Spirit, and His answers become part of His greater work in our lives.
Reflecting on this verse also invites us to evaluate what we truly believe about God. Do we see Him as a generous Father who delights in giving good gifts to His children? Or do we view Him as distant or reluctant? Our prayers often reveal what we really think about God’s character. When we believe in His love, His power, and His faithfulness, our prayers become bold and expectant, not timid or doubting.
This verse also challenges us to live expectantly. If we believe that God hears and answers prayer, how should that change the way we live each day? We can move through life with greater peace, knowing that we are not alone, that our needs are known to God, and that He is already working on our behalf. Our faith doesn’t guarantee that life will be easy, but it anchors us in the assurance that God is present and active in every situation.
Matthew 21:22 ultimately points us back to the heart of the gospel: a relationship of trust with a faithful God. It encourages us to bring everything to Him in prayer, to believe that He cares, and to trust that He will provide what is best. It reminds us that prayer is not about formulas or techniques, but about faith—faith in a God who sees, knows, and loves us beyond measure.
As you reflect on this verse, consider how you might deepen your faith through prayer. How can you cultivate greater trust in God’s goodness? How can you align your heart more fully with His will? Let this promise from Jesus inspire you to pray boldly, trust deeply, and wait expectantly, knowing that the God who loves you delights to hear and answer the prayers of His children.

A prominent verse related to generational stewardship of money is Proverbs 13:22, which states, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children."
This verse suggests that part of being a good steward of wealth includes planning for the future and ensuring the well-being of future generations of kingdom builders.
This verse is often cited in discussions about financial planning and legacy, it's important to remember that the Bible also emphasizes the importance of giving to those in need and being content with what one has, rather than accumulating wealth for its own sake.
The focus should be on using resources wisely and for God's glory first and foremost, NOT simply leaving a large sum of generational money.
My mission is to serve followers of Christ through helping them become builders of His kingdom. Trading is NOT a get rich scheme, rather it's a skillset that when applied from the perspective of stewarding God's wealth and will first, proves to be incredibly fulfilling!

Matthew 6:19-21
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Here’s a thoughtfully designed 7-day journaling plan to help you reflect deeply on Matthew 21:22 — “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
This guide will encourage you to explore your faith, your prayer life, and your trust in God’s promises throughout the week.
Day 1: Examine Your Faith
Journal about what it means for you personally to believe. How would you describe your faith right now? Is it strong, wavering, or somewhere in between? Write honestly about what helps you trust God and what makes it difficult. Ask God to reveal areas where He wants to strengthen your faith.
Day 2: Reflect on Past Prayers
Think back to prayers you have prayed in the past. Which ones did God answer in ways that built your faith? Were there times when the answer looked different from what you expected? Journal about how those experiences shaped your understanding of God’s faithfulness.
Day 3: Aligning Desires with God’s Will
Spend time writing about what you most often ask God for in prayer. Are these requests centered on His kingdom, His will, and His purposes, or more on your personal wants? Pray for wisdom to align your desires with His. Journal about one specific way you can begin to do this today.
Day 4: Overcoming Doubt in Prayer
Identify any doubts or fears that come up when you pray. Do you ever feel uncertain that God hears or will respond? Reflect on why those doubts arise and write a prayer asking God to help you overcome them. Invite His Spirit to fill you with confident faith.
Day 5: Practicing Bold, Believing Prayer
Today, choose one thing you’ve been hesitant to bring before God because it seemed too big or too impossible. Write it down. Offer it up to God with faith, trusting Him with the outcome. Journal about how it feels to pray boldly and how you sense God meeting you in that prayer.
Day 6: Gratitude for God’s Faithfulness
Focus your journaling today on gratitude. List ways God has already provided for you — in big and small ways. How have you seen His hand in your life, even when you didn’t expect it? Thank Him in writing for His goodness, and reflect on how remembering these blessings strengthens your faith.
Day 7: Trusting God’s Timing
Write about what it means to wait on God with faith. Is there something you’ve been asking for that hasn’t come yet? How can you choose to trust His timing and His plan? End your journaling by surrendering these prayers to God, asking for patience and deeper trust.
