Greetings,
Trust His Purpose Over Your Plans
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
— Proverbs 19:21

Unpacking the Message of Verse Proverbs 19:21
Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” This verse carries a depth of spiritual wisdom that speaks to both our ambitions and our limitations. It invites us to consider the tension between our personal desires and God’s divine sovereignty. We live in a world that praises vision, drive, and self-determination—but this verse reminds us that, ultimately, God is the author of outcomes, no matter how detailed our planning may be.
There’s something profoundly human about making plans. From early on, we are taught to dream, to organize our lives, to set goals and strategies for success. And that’s not inherently wrong—Scripture even celebrates wisdom and foresight. But what this proverb does is recalibrate our hearts. It suggests that while planning is a part of being human, yielding to God’s will is what makes us wise. Our hearts can be full of ambition, but the Spirit calls us to humility.
This verse is not a condemnation of planning; rather, it’s a caution against presumption. There is nothing wrong with dreaming or organizing our future. The key lies in being spiritually anchored—knowing that while we plan, we must also surrender. In James 4:13-15, a similar idea appears when the writer warns those who speak of future plans without acknowledging, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” It’s a healthy reminder that life is unpredictable, and we are not in control the way we often believe we are.
There’s comfort in that truth as well. Because if we are not fully in control, then neither are we fully responsible for the weight of the world. When our plans collapse or when doors unexpectedly close, we can take refuge in the assurance that God’s greater purpose is still unfolding. Disappointment, while painful, is not the end. In fact, many times what seems like a detour is actually divine redirection. Consider Joseph in Genesis—betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, imprisoned unjustly—and yet, through it all, God’s purpose prevailed not only for Joseph but for an entire nation.

Proverbs 19:21 can be a lens through which we evaluate both our successes and our setbacks. When things go as planned, we praise God for aligning our steps with His purpose. When they don’t, we hold on to the truth that His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9). It takes deep faith to trust in what we cannot see, to believe that God is working even in the dark, and to relinquish control without giving in to fear.
This verse also challenges our motives. What kind of plans are we making? Are they rooted in selfish ambition, or are they submitted to God's kingdom values? It’s not just about our will being overridden by God’s; it’s about growing into maturity where we begin to desire His will more than our own. That’s part of what it means to be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). When we begin to align our plans with God’s heart, His purpose doesn’t just prevail—it also becomes our joy.
Living in step with this verse involves spiritual sensitivity. It means praying with open hands. It means welcoming the redirection of the Holy Spirit, even when it’s uncomfortable. It means rejoicing in the plans that do succeed, but without boasting, and grieving over the ones that don’t, without despair.
In a fast-paced culture that prizes certainty and measurable outcomes, Proverbs 19:21 slows us down. It reminds us that we are not God. We don’t have the whole picture, and that’s okay. What we do have is a loving, sovereign Father whose purposes are perfect—even when our understanding is incomplete.
So today, whether you are facing an uncertain future, struggling with an unfulfilled dream, or celebrating a milestone you’ve long prayed for, this verse invites you to bring all your plans to the Lord. Trust that He’s writing a better story than you ever could. Trust that His purpose will not just prevail—it will be for your good and His glory.

A prominent verse related to generational stewardship of money is Proverbs 13:22, which states, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children."
This verse suggests that part of being a good steward of wealth includes planning for the future and ensuring the well-being of future generations.
This verse is often cited in discussions about financial planning and legacy, it's important to remember that the Bible also emphasizes the importance of giving to those in need and being content with what one has, rather than accumulating wealth for its own sake.
The focus should be on using resources wisely and for God's glory first and foremost, rather than simply leaving a large sum of generational money.
My mission is to serve followers of Christ through helping them become builders of His kingdom. Trading is NOT a get rich scheme, rather it's a skillset that when applied from the perspective of stewarding God's wealth and will first, proves to be incredibly fulfilling!

Matthew 6:19-21:
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Here’s a 7-day journaling plan based on Proverbs 19:21 — “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
This plan is designed to help you reflect deeply, grow spiritually, and align your heart more fully with God’s purposes in your daily life.
Day 1 – Acknowledge the Planner Within
Reflection: What are the current plans, goals, or dreams you have in your heart right now? Are you holding tightly to them or offering them up to God?
Journal Prompt: “Lord, these are the desires in my heart... I offer them to You today. Help me to see them through Your eyes.”
Day 2 – Discern God’s Purpose
Reflection: Think of a time when your plans didn’t work out, yet something greater came from it. How did God’s purpose prevail even when yours did not?
Journal Prompt: “I remember when... I now see how Your hand was in it, even when I didn’t understand. Thank You for Your perfect purpose.”
Day 3 – Let Go of Control
Reflection: Where in your life are you trying to force outcomes? Where is anxiety or striving overtaking surrender?
Journal Prompt: “Father, I confess that I often try to control... Help me to trust that Your plan is better than mine.”
Day 4 – Embrace Holy Redirection
Reflection: How do you typically respond to unexpected changes in your plans? What might it look like to respond with faith rather than frustration?
Journal Prompt: “God, change is hard, but I trust You. Even when my plans shift, guide me to see where You are leading.”
Day 5 – Align Your Desires
Reflection: Are your plans aligned with God’s values and character? Ask God to shape your desires to reflect His will.
Journal Prompt: “Lord, mold my ambitions. Let my desires be shaped by eternity, not ego.”
Day 6 – Rejoice in His Sovereignty
Reflection: Consider how God's sovereignty is a gift, not a threat. Reflect on the peace that comes from knowing He is in control.
Journal Prompt: “Today I rejoice, not because everything is going according to my plan, but because I am safe in Yours.”
Day 7 – Pray and Surrender Anew
Reflection: End the week by recommitting your life, your plans, your gifts, and your future to God.
Journal Prompt: “Lord, I surrender again. Not my will, but Yours be done. Let Your purpose prevail in my life.”
This journaling journey can be repeated each time you enter a new season of life or make a major decision. It trains your heart to plan with God, not just for God.
Keep your entries prayerful and honest, and over time, you’ll be able to trace the faithful hand of God moving in your life even when your path twists unexpectedly.
