Unpacking the Message of Ephesians 6:13
Ephesians 6:13 is a call to spiritual readiness and perseverance in the face of unseen conflict. When Paul writes, “Therefore put on the full armor of God,” he is urging believers to take deliberate action in preparing themselves for spiritual battle. The word “therefore” connects this instruction to the reality that life involves more than physical struggles; it includes spiritual opposition that requires divine strength.
The phrase “full armor of God” emphasizes completeness. Believers are not to rely on partial preparation or selective effort. Every piece of the armor is necessary because each represents an aspect of God’s provision—truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and His Word.
