Greetings,
The Power of Loving Correction
“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.” — Matthew 18:15

Unpacking the Message of Verse Matthew 18:15
“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.” — Matthew 18:15 is a verse that invites us into a deeper understanding of what it means to walk in love, humility, accountability, and restoration within the family of God. At its heart, this teaching from Jesus is not about judgment, but about reconciliation. When we hear these words, we are called to reflect on how God desires relationships that reflect His mercy and truth, where the aim is not to condemn but to heal and restore.
When someone sins against us, our human instinct is often to react with anger, to distance ourselves, or to speak to others about what happened. But Jesus teaches a path that is radically different from what the world typically advises. He calls us first to approach the person privately. This approach preserves their dignity, reduces shame, and opens the door for genuine conversation. It protects the unity of the community by avoiding gossip and unnecessary division. This private and direct method also reflects God’s heart — He doesn’t broadcast our faults to the world but gently convicts us through His Spirit, inviting us back into fellowship.
Consider the humility required to obey this command. Approaching a brother or sister to address sin is not an act of superiority. Rather, it is an act of courage and love. It means we care enough about their walk with God and our relationship with them that we are willing to risk discomfort to seek what is right. And it demands that we first examine our own hearts. Jesus said elsewhere that we should take the plank out of our own eye before addressing the speck in someone else’s. So before we go to our brother or sister, we must pray and ask God to reveal any pride, bitterness, or wrong motives in ourselves. Are we seeking to help or simply to be right? Are we desiring restoration or trying to satisfy our own hurt?
This verse also points to the power of listening. Jesus says, “If they listen to you, you have won them over.” The goal is not just to speak the truth, but to speak in such a way that invites the other person to listen, reflect, and turn. How we speak — our tone, our attitude, our gentleness — can either open the door to reconciliation or slam it shut. There is wisdom in how we approach these conversations, asking the Spirit to guide our words so they are filled with grace and truth. The listening that Jesus refers to is not just hearing the words but receiving them with a willingness to change. And that is a work that only God can accomplish in the heart of the other person, which means we must pray for them as much as we prepare to speak.

There’s also a message here about persistence in love. Sometimes a brother or sister may not listen at first. That does not mean we abandon them or write them off. The surrounding verses in Matthew 18 describe additional steps: bringing one or two others, or eventually involving the church, always with the goal of restoration. This process reminds us that God’s grace is patient. Just as He does not give up on us, we are not to give up easily on others. We are to pursue peace and reconciliation diligently, because unity in the body of Christ matters deeply to our Lord.
We can also reflect on the idea that when we do this well, we “win them over.” This is victory in the Kingdom of God — not that we win an argument, but that we win a soul, a relationship, a brother or sister restored to righteousness. There is a deep joy in being used by God to help someone return to Him. And there is also a beautiful protection in this process: by dealing with matters privately and kindly, we protect the community from unnecessary wounds and keep the focus on healing.
This verse challenges us to think about our responsibility to one another as believers. Christianity is not just about our individual walk with God but about walking together, bearing one another’s burdens, and helping each other stay on the narrow path. When we see a brother or sister wandering, love compels us to act — not with condemnation, but with compassion. We are reminded that sin damages not just the sinner but the entire community, and restoration brings health to all.
Finally, this verse invites us to trust God with the outcome. We can approach someone in love and gentleness, but whether they listen and turn is ultimately between them and God. Our role is to obey, to speak the truth in love, and to pray for their heart to be softened. We leave the results in the hands of the One who alone can change hearts.
In reflecting on Matthew 18:15, we can see how it calls us to maturity, courage, humility, and above all, love. It challenges us to rise above the ways of the world — to avoid gossip, revenge, or silent resentment — and to embrace the hard but beautiful work of reconciliation. It assures us that when we act in this way, we align ourselves with God’s heart, we strengthen His Church, and we become instruments of His peace.

A prominent verse related to generational stewardship of money is Proverbs 13:22, which states, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children."
This verse suggests that part of being a good steward of wealth includes planning for the future and ensuring the well-being of future generations of kingdom builders.
This verse is often cited in discussions about financial planning and legacy, it's important to remember that the Bible also emphasizes the importance of giving to those in need and being content with what one has, rather than accumulating wealth for its own sake.
The focus should be on using resources wisely and for God's glory first and foremost, NOT simply leaving a large sum of generational money.
My mission is to serve followers of Christ through helping them become builders of His kingdom. Trading is NOT a get rich scheme, rather it's a skillset that when applied from the perspective of stewarding God's wealth and will first, proves to be incredibly fulfilling!

Here’s a thoughtful 7-day journaling plan based on Matthew 18:15 — “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.”
This guide is designed to help you apply the verse deeply, grow in love, humility, and courage, and seek God’s heart in relationships throughout your week.
Day 1 — Examine Your Own Heart
Reflect on times when someone sinned against you or hurt you. How did you respond? Write honestly about your emotions — were you quick to judge, or did you seek understanding? Ask God in prayer to reveal any pride, bitterness, or unforgiveness in your heart. Record what He shows you and how you want to surrender these to Him.
Day 2 — The Courage to Confront with Love
Think about a situation, past or present, where you sensed the need to address someone’s wrongdoing privately. What held you back, or what helped you move forward? Journal about how you can prepare your heart to approach such situations with gentleness and love, rather than anger or self-righteousness.
Day 3 — The Power of Private Conversation
Write about why Jesus emphasizes addressing faults just between the two of you. How does this approach protect relationships and promote healing? Reflect on any times you’ve seen gossip or public shaming cause harm. Ask God to help you be a person who protects others’ dignity.
Day 4 — Listening and Winning a Soul
Reflect on what it means to “win them over.” Write about how winning someone back is a victory for love and unity, not just for being right. How can you communicate in a way that helps others listen rather than feel attacked? Pray for God to give you wisdom and grace in your words.
Day 5 — God’s Patience, Our Patience
Journal about how you can model God’s patience when others don’t immediately listen or change. Reflect on times God was patient with you as you resisted correction. Write a prayer asking for strength to pursue reconciliation without giving up too soon.
Day 6 — Building Up the Body of Christ
Think about how Matthew 18:15 fits into the bigger picture of unity and holiness in the Church. How does dealing with sin in a loving, direct way strengthen the community of believers? Journal about how you can contribute to peace and health in your family, church, or friendships.
Day 7 — Surrendering the Outcome
Write about the tension between doing your part to speak the truth in love and leaving the results to God. Reflect on how you can trust God to work in hearts after you’ve obeyed Him. Finish your week by praying for any specific relationships where you need His guidance for restoration or forgiveness.

Closing thoughts as we pray for those reading or hearing this verse today...
Dear Beloved in Christ,
The Power of Loving Correction
We are called to walk together in faith, helping one another stay true to God’s path.
Jesus gives us this gentle instruction:
“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.” — Matthew 18:15
This verse reminds us that loving correction is not about judgment, but about restoration.
When we approach one another with grace and humility, we reflect the heart of Christ — seeking to build up, not tear down.
May the Lord give you courage and wisdom to speak truth in love, always aiming to restore and strengthen the bonds of fellowship.
In His grace 🙏🏻
