Greetings,
Preserved by God’s Word
“I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life.” — Psalm 119:93
Unpacking the Message of Psalm 119:93
Psalm 119:93 says, “I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life.” This verse speaks with great depth about the sustaining power of God’s Word and how remembering His truth becomes a lifeline in moments of weakness, confusion, or trial. It reminds us that the precepts of the Lord are not just moral instructions to be studied academically, but life-giving principles that preserve, sustain, and protect the one who clings to them. To unpack this fully, we must see the verse through the lens of both gratitude and discipline.
The psalmist declares, “I will never forget your precepts.” This speaks of intentional remembrance. Forgetting God’s Word often happens not through outright rebellion but through distraction, neglect, or the busyness of life that pulls our attention away from the truth that anchors us. We are prone to forgetfulness, much like the Israelites who, after witnessing miracles in the wilderness, still doubted God’s provision. This verse challenges us to adopt a posture of deliberate remembrance, weaving God’s truth into every part of our day. When Scripture becomes a steady rhythm in our lives, we find that it gives us wisdom in decisions, comfort in sorrow, and strength in temptation.
The second part of the verse, “for by them you have preserved my life,” testifies to the power of God’s Word to sustain. Think about what preservation means. It’s not just about surviving; it’s about being kept whole, being protected from decay, corruption, or destruction. The psalmist recognizes that his very life, not just his physical existence but his spiritual vitality, has been maintained by God’s truth. Without God’s precepts, he would have been swept away by sin, despair, or hopelessness. This teaches us that clinging to the Word is not optional for the believer — it is essential. Just as food preserves the body by nourishing it, God’s Word preserves the soul by feeding it.
There is also a deep connection here between remembrance and preservation. To forget the Word of God is to slowly wither; to remember it is to flourish. Jesus echoed this truth when He said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Life is preserved not merely by earthly resources, but by the unchanging truths of God’s promises and commands. The psalmist’s testimony is one of gratitude, but it is also a reminder for us that preservation requires cooperation — we must hold fast to what God has said, recalling it when the winds of life attempt to shake us.

This verse also invites us to consider personal testimonies of God’s preservation in our own lives. How many times have you faced discouragement, only to be lifted by a verse that reminded you of God’s nearness? How often has temptation been silenced when a precept of God rose in your memory? How many valleys have you walked through where His promises preserved your hope? The psalmist is not speaking theoretically but experientially. His declaration comes from living through real struggles, yet finding that God’s Word held him firm.
Another layer of this verse is its permanence. The psalmist says, “I will never forget.” This is not just about remembering for a season but committing for a lifetime. Our culture often treats Scripture as optional or situational, but the psalmist models a heart that treasures God’s Word as essential, ongoing, and central. It’s a vow of continual remembrance. To live this way means training the mind and heart to meditate on the Word daily, storing it up so deeply within that it becomes an inseparable part of who we are. This is how God’s truth becomes a preservation for life, because it reshapes our identity, our decisions, and our destiny.
Finally, this verse connects us to Christ Himself. Jesus is the living Word, the fulfillment of every precept. He is the one who ultimately preserves life, not only temporarily but eternally. The psalmist saw God’s precepts as life-giving, but we see the full picture in Christ, who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” To never forget His precepts is also to never forget the person of Jesus, who embodies the truth that gives eternal preservation to all who believe.
In practical application, this verse calls us to live with gratitude, discipline, and hope. Gratitude, because God’s Word has already preserved us in countless ways. Discipline, because remembrance requires intentional effort to dwell on His precepts daily. And hope, because the same Word that preserved the psalmist will preserve us, leading us through every season until the day we stand in eternal life with Him. To embrace this verse fully is to say, “I will root myself in the truth of God so that no storm, temptation, or trial can cause me to forget the one who preserves my soul.”

A prominent verse related to generational stewardship of money is Proverbs 13:22, which states, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children."
This verse suggests that part of being a good steward of wealth includes planning for the future and ensuring the well-being of future generations of kingdom builders.
This verse is often cited in discussions about financial planning and legacy, it's important to remember that the Bible also emphasizes the importance of giving to those in need and being content with what one has, rather than accumulating wealth for its own sake.
The focus should be on using resources wisely and for God's glory first and foremost, NOT simply leaving a large sum of generational money.
My mission is to serve followers of Christ through helping them become builders of His kingdom. Trading is NOT a get rich scheme, rather it's a skillset that when applied from the perspective of stewarding God's wealth and will first, proves to be incredibly fulfilling!

Closing thoughts as we pray for those reading or hearing this verse today...
Dear Beloved in Christ,
Preserved by God’s Word
“I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life.” — Psalm 119:93
There is power in remembering and holding fast to God’s Word.
It is more than instruction—it is life itself. His precepts guide us, protect us, and sustain us in ways we often don’t realize until we look back and see how far He has carried us.
When the storms of life threaten to shake your foundation, let His Word be your anchor.
The same truths that preserved David are the same truths that preserve us today.
Take heart—your life is not upheld by your strength, but by the living Word of God that never fails.
Stay strong in Him 🙏🏻
