Greetings,
He Sees You. He Hears You. He Delivers.
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 34:17–18

Unpacking the Message of Verses Psalm 34:17–18
Psalm 34:17-18 speaks directly into the raw, honest reality of human suffering. It acknowledges the pain, the brokenness, and the heaviness that people experience — but it doesn't stop there. It offers not only comfort but deep assurance. This passage is a clear reminder that God's ear is attuned to the cries of His people and that His nearness isn't conditioned by strength or performance, but by need, humility, and brokenness.
The verse begins with, "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them." What an incredible promise — not just that God is aware of our pain, but that He hears. Hearing in Scripture is more than just passive awareness. It implies action, responsiveness, and intimacy. When God hears, He moves. When the righteous — those walking in relationship with Him — cry out, it's not to empty air. It’s to a loving Father who leans in to listen. This truth is profoundly relevant in a world where people often feel unseen and unheard.
"He delivers them from all their troubles." The verse doesn’t say some troubles, or just the spiritual ones, or only the ones we feel we deserve help with. It says all. This delivery doesn’t always look like immediate rescue from every situation, but it does always mean His presence is active in every storm. God may not remove every pain the moment we ask, but He does promise to walk with us, strengthen us, and ultimately bring us through.
The next line deepens the tenderness: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted." Consider what that means — He draws near. When the world tends to scatter from brokenness, when people are uncomfortable with pain and grief, God steps toward it. There’s something sacred about our lowest moments. They aren’t wasted, and they aren’t ignored. In fact, they are often the places where we experience God most intimately, because our walls are down and our ears are more open to His voice.
The final part — "and saves those who are crushed in spirit" — is a powerful image. "Crushed" evokes something pulverized under weight. A crushed spirit isn’t just sad; it’s the soul-level ache of despair, disillusionment, or grief. And this is where God chooses to show up with healing and rescue. He doesn’t avoid the darkest corners of our lives. He enters them with compassion and with power.

This passage teaches us something profound about how God relates to human pain. It also challenges the idea that we must always have it all together to be close to God. On the contrary, it is often in our most vulnerable, raw, and fragile moments that we are actually the closest to Him. It reminds us that righteousness isn't about being perfect; it’s about being honest before God, depending on Him, and trusting Him enough to cry out.
It also teaches us something about how to approach others who are hurting. If God is close to the brokenhearted, shouldn’t we be as well? If God saves those who are crushed in spirit, how can we become His hands and feet to walk alongside them — not with answers, but with presence?
This verse is an invitation. An invitation to cry out, without shame or reservation. To bring your entire self — joy, sorrow, fear, doubt — into the presence of a God who doesn’t recoil at weakness but draws near to it. It is an invitation to be real, and to trust that God isn’t just watching from a distance. He is with you. In every heartache. In every dark night. In every whispered prayer. He hears. He saves. He delivers. And He stays.
If you are in a season of grief or struggle, this passage gives you permission to stop pretending and start pressing into God with the raw truth of where you are. He can handle it. He welcomes it. In fact, it’s often the very space where transformation begins — not in the ease, but in the pressing in, in the leaning on Him when there’s nowhere else to lean.
And if you are walking in strength right now, this verse reminds you to remain tender toward those who are not. To extend the same mercy, patience, and nearness that God models so beautifully here. Because when the righteous cry, they are not alone. God hears. God helps. And God heals.
This is the unwavering promise of Psalm 34:17-18 — a God who is not only powerful enough to deliver, but loving enough to stay close.

A prominent verse related to generational stewardship of money is Proverbs 13:22, which states, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children."
This verse suggests that part of being a good steward of wealth includes planning for the future and ensuring the well-being of future generations of kingdom builders.
This verse is often cited in discussions about financial planning and legacy, it's important to remember that the Bible also emphasizes the importance of giving to those in need and being content with what one has, rather than accumulating wealth for its own sake.
The focus should be on using resources wisely and for God's glory first and foremost, NOT simply leaving a large sum of generational money.
My mission is to serve followers of Christ through helping them become builders of His kingdom. Trading is NOT a get rich scheme, rather it's a skillset that when applied from the perspective of stewarding God's wealth and will first, proves to be incredibly fulfilling!

Closing thoughts as we pray for those reading or hearing this verse today...
Dear Beloved in Christ,
He Sees You. He Hears You. He Delivers.
When the weight of the world presses heavy on your shoulders and your heart feels shattered beyond repair, take comfort in this unshakable truth from God’s Word:
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:17–18
You are not alone in your pain. Your cries do not fall on deaf ears. The Lord, in all His mercy and faithfulness, leans in when we call. He is not distant from the brokenhearted — He is near, ever ready to save and restore.
Whatever you’re facing today, speak to Him. Trust in His presence. Rest in the assurance that He is working, even in the dark.
May you feel His nearness and know His comfort as you walk through today.
In Christ's love 🙏🏻
