Greetings,
Guided by a Good and Upright God ✝️

Unpacking the Message of Psalm 25:8–9
Psalm 25:8–9 reveals the heart of God as both morally perfect and deeply compassionate. When Scripture declares that the Lord is good and upright, it affirms that His character is flawless and trustworthy. God does not merely do good; He is good in His very nature. His uprightness assures us that His ways are always just, true, and reliable, even when we struggle to understand them.
What makes this declaration so powerful is what follows. Because God is good and upright, He chooses to instruct sinners in His ways. This is a profound statement of grace. God does not reserve His guidance only for the righteous or the spiritually mature. Instead, He meets people in their brokenness and gently teaches them how to walk in truth. His goodness moves Him toward restoration, not rejection.
This verse dismantles the fear that many carry—that failure disqualifies them from God’s guidance. On the contrary, God’s willingness to instruct sinners reveals His desire for repentance and transformation. He is a teacher who welcomes those who are willing to learn, no matter how far they have wandered. His instruction is an expression of mercy, not condemnation.
Psalm 25:9 then turns our attention to humility, identifying it as the posture that allows us to receive God’s guidance. The humble are those who recognize their need for God, who do not insist on their own wisdom, and who are willing to be led. Humility opens the heart to correction and growth, making space for God to guide us in what is right.
God’s guidance is not vague or confusing. He leads the humble in what is right, meaning His direction is aligned with truth, righteousness, and love. In a world filled with competing voices and shifting values, this promise offers stability. God does not mislead those who trust Him. His path is consistent with His character and rooted in eternal truth.

The phrase “teaches them His way” emphasizes that God is not merely interested in isolated decisions, but in shaping a way of life. His way encompasses how we think, how we love, how we respond to hardship, and how we walk with others. Learning God’s way is a lifelong journey of becoming more like Him.
This teaching is deeply relational. God does not instruct from a distance; He walks with His people as a loving guide. His teaching often unfolds through Scripture, prayer, conviction, and life experiences. Each lesson is designed not only to inform the mind, but to transform the heart.
Psalm 25:8–9 also highlights God’s patience. Teaching takes time, and God is never rushed. He knows our weaknesses and our pace, yet He remains faithful to guide us step by step. Even when we stumble, His goodness does not waver, and His instruction does not cease.
These verses remind us that spiritual growth is not achieved through pride or self-effort, but through surrender. The humble posture ourselves to be taught, trusting that God’s way is better than our own. In this surrender, we discover freedom, clarity, and peace.
Ultimately, Psalm 25:8–9 points us toward hope. A good and upright God who teaches sinners and guides the humble is a God who desires relationship and redemption. He invites every willing heart to learn from Him, to walk in His truth, and to be shaped by His loving guidance.
In these verses, we see a God who is both holy and kind, both just and patient. He is a teacher who leads with grace and a guide who never abandons those who seek Him. For every believer longing for direction, Psalm 25:8–9 offers a promise worth trusting: God will guide those who humbly place their steps in His hands.

A prominent verse related to generational stewardship of money is Proverbs 13:22, which states, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children."
This verse suggests that part of being a good steward of wealth includes planning for the future and ensuring the well-being of future generations of kingdom builders.
This verse is often cited in discussions about financial planning and legacy, it's important to remember that the Bible also emphasizes the importance of giving to those in need and being content with what one has, rather than accumulating wealth for its own sake.
The focus should be on using resources wisely and for God's glory first and foremost, NOT simply leaving a large sum of generational money.
My mission is to serve followers of Christ through helping them become builders of His kingdom. Trading is NOT a get rich scheme, rather it's a skillset that when applied from the perspective of stewarding God's wealth and will first, proves to be incredibly fulfilling!

Here is our 7-day journaling plan designed to gently lead a follower of Jesus Christ into deeper trust, humility, and obedience as they unpack Psalm 25:8–9.
Day 1: Resting in the Goodness of God
Opening Prayer
Lord, I come before You today acknowledging that You are good and upright in all Your ways. Help my heart rest in who You are, even when I do not understand what You are doing. Open my eyes to see Your goodness at work in my life.
Journaling Reflection
Reflect on what it means that God is not just good in action, but good in nature. Where in your life have you experienced His goodness, especially during difficult seasons? Write about how trusting God’s goodness affects your willingness to follow Him.
Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for being a God I can trust. Anchor my faith in Your goodness and remind me that everything You teach and lead me into flows from Your perfect character. Amen.
Day 2: God’s Willingness to Teach Sinners
Opening Prayer
Gracious God, thank You for meeting me where I am rather than waiting for me to be perfect. Soften my heart to receive Your instruction today.
Journaling Reflection
Consider how Psalm 25:8 describes God instructing sinners. Write honestly about areas where you feel unworthy of God’s guidance. How does this verse challenge those thoughts and replace them with hope?
Closing Prayer
Lord, I receive Your grace with humility. Thank You for not turning away from me but guiding me with patience and love. Teach me Your ways. Amen.
Day 3: The Posture of Humility
Opening Prayer
Father, I ask You to search my heart and reveal any pride or self-reliance that keeps me from fully trusting You. Teach me how to walk humbly with You.
Journaling Reflection
Reflect on what humility looks like in your daily life. Where might pride be quietly influencing your decisions or reactions? Write about how surrendering control allows God to guide you more clearly.
Closing Prayer
Lord, I choose humility today. Help me release my need to be in control and trust Your leading instead. Shape my heart to be teachable and open. Amen.
Day 4: Being Guided in What Is Right
Opening Prayer
God of truth, guide my steps today. I want to walk in what is right, not what is easy or popular. Give me discernment through Your Spirit.
Journaling Reflection
Write about a decision or situation where you need God’s guidance. How does knowing that God leads the humble in what is right bring peace or clarity to your heart?
Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for not leaving me to figure things out on my own. I trust You to guide me in truth and righteousness as I follow You. Amen.
Day 5: Learning God’s Way, Not Just His Rules
Opening Prayer
Lord, help me to see Your commands as invitations into Your way of life. Teach me not just what to do, but how to live like You.
Journaling Reflection
Reflect on the phrase “teaches them His way.” Write about how God has been shaping your character, not just your behavior. What is He teaching you about love, patience, or obedience?
Closing Prayer
Jesus, thank You for walking with me as I learn Your way. Continue shaping my heart so my life reflects Yours more clearly. Amen.
Day 6: Trusting God’s Timing and Patience
Opening Prayer
Father, I often want quick answers and immediate clarity. Teach me to trust Your timing and to remain patient as You guide me step by step.
Journaling Reflection
Write about a season where God’s guidance unfolded slowly. How did His patience shape your faith? What is He teaching you now as you wait?
Closing Prayer
Lord, I trust that You are never late and never careless. Help me rest in Your perfect timing and remain faithful as You lead me forward. Amen.
Day 7: Walking Forward with Confidence and Faith
Opening Prayer
God, as I reflect on this week, I thank You for being my Teacher and Guide. Strengthen my faith to walk confidently in the path You set before me.
Journaling Reflection
Look back over the week and write about how your understanding of Psalm 25:8–9 has deepened. How has God revealed His goodness, guidance, or instruction in your life?
Closing Prayer
Father, I surrender my steps to You. Continue teaching me Your ways, guiding me in what is right, and shaping my life for Your glory. I choose to walk humbly with You, trusting You completely. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Closing thoughts as we pray for those reading or hearing this verse today...
Heavenly Father,
We come before You with grateful hearts, acknowledging that You are good and upright in all Your ways. Thank You for not turning away from us in our weakness, but instead drawing near with mercy, patience, and truth. Your goodness invites us to learn from You, and Your righteousness gives us confidence that the path You set before us is always right.
Lord, we confess that we often wander, relying on our own understanding rather than seeking Your wisdom. Yet You promise to instruct sinners in Your ways, not with condemnation, but with love. Teach us, Father. Shape our hearts to desire what You desire and to walk according to Your truth.
Give us humble hearts, Lord. Remove pride, self-reliance, and stubbornness from within us, and replace them with a teachable spirit. Help us to listen when You speak, to pause when You redirect us, and to trust You even when the path is unfamiliar.
Guide us in what is right, especially in moments of confusion or uncertainty. When the world offers many voices, anchor us in Your Word and lead us by Your Spirit. May we not merely know Your ways, but joyfully walk in them, reflecting Your character in our thoughts, words, and actions.
Thank You, Father, for being a God who teaches, guides, and patiently leads His children. We place our faith in You and surrender our steps to Your loving instruction.
May our lives bring glory to Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray.
Amen 🙏🏻
