“Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.” — Psalm 62:1

Unpacking the Message of Psalm 62:1
When we read the words of Psalm 62:1, “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him,” we are invited into one of the most profound and essential truths of the Christian life — that our deepest peace, our truest rest, and our lasting security are found in God alone. This verse was written by David, a man who experienced constant turmoil — from being pursued by Saul, to leading a nation under constant threat, to facing betrayal and loss within his own family. Yet, even in all that chaos, David learned where his soul could finally exhale: not in power, not in comfort, not even in victory, but in God Himself.
There’s a rhythm in this verse — “Truly my soul finds rest in God.” The Hebrew phrasing carries the sense of quiet expectation or still confidence. It’s not the kind of rest that comes from doing nothing; it’s the calm assurance that settles the soul because it knows who holds all things together. The word “truly” also carries weight — David isn’t expressing a wish or a hope. He’s making a declaration of certainty. It’s as though he’s saying, “No matter what’s happening around me, I know this for sure — my soul can only find rest in God.”
This is something we must rediscover in our modern lives. We live in a world that glorifies busyness and noise. We rush from one thing to the next, constantly stimulated, constantly striving. Even when our bodies stop moving, our minds rarely do. We scroll, we compare, we plan, we worry. But David reminds us that true rest doesn’t come from escaping life — it comes from entrusting life. It comes from releasing our grip and remembering that God is both our rest and our salvation.
Notice the order of David’s words. He says first, “My soul finds rest in God,” and then, “My salvation comes from Him.” Rest precedes salvation in this statement — not in a theological sense, but in an experiential one. Before we see deliverance or breakthrough, we must first learn to rest in the Deliverer. Before we are rescued from a storm, we must learn to be still and trust that God commands the wind and waves. So many of us pray for salvation — from problems, stress, fear — but we never allow our souls to rest long enough to hear the whisper of God saying, “I am here. I am enough. I am your salvation.”
The truth is, rest is not optional for the believer. It’s sacred. It’s a form of worship. When we rest in God, we’re declaring our faith in His sovereignty. We’re saying, “God, I don’t need to have it all figured out because I trust that You do.” Resting in God is not laziness — it’s holy dependence. It’s the stillness that grows from surrender.
So how do we practice this kind of rest in our everyday lives? It starts with intentional quiet. David often withdrew from the chaos of leadership to seek God in solitude. We must do the same — even if it’s just a few moments each day. When we silence the noise of the world, we make room for the voice of God. Rest also comes through trust — learning to hand over our worries, our future, our failures, to the One who promises to work all things together for good. Sometimes that means reminding ourselves that we are not our own savior. Our salvation — spiritual, emotional, and even practical — comes from Him, not from our striving.
Resting in God also means learning to live from a place of peace, not panic. It’s easy to say “I trust God” when life feels steady. But real rest is proven in the storms — when the job is uncertain, when the diagnosis is unclear, when relationships are strained. That’s when we must anchor our souls in His character, not our circumstances. We remind ourselves that the same God who saved David from the lion and the bear, who calmed the seas, and who raised Christ from the dead — that same God holds our story.

There’s also something deeply personal in this verse — “my soul.” David isn’t speaking abstractly about humanity finding rest; he’s claiming it for himself. “My soul finds rest in God.” That’s a declaration every believer must make individually. You cannot borrow someone else’s peace. You must learn to rest your own soul in God through relationship, through trust, through faith.
Think about how many times we seek rest in things that can never satisfy — entertainment, comfort, control, distraction. But none of these can restore the soul. They may quiet the noise for a moment, but only God can still the storm inside. When we turn our attention to Him — in prayer, in worship, in Scripture — something supernatural happens. The anxiety begins to loosen its grip. The fear begins to fade. And the peace that surpasses all understanding begins to fill the space that worry once occupied.
This verse also connects rest to salvation — “my salvation comes from Him.” Salvation isn’t just about eternity; it’s also about the here and now. God saves us daily — from despair, from hopelessness, from self-reliance. When David says his salvation comes from God, he’s acknowledging that everything good, everything stable, everything life-giving flows from God’s hand. Our peace, our strength, our very breath — all come from Him.
So the question becomes — where are you looking for rest today? Where does your soul run when it’s weary? Is it to people? To work? To distraction? Or to God? Because the place you go for rest reveals what you truly trust. God is inviting you — right now, in this very season — to find your rest in Him. To stop running, stop striving, stop trying to fix what only He can redeem.
As we grow in faith, we learn that resting in God is not a one-time act but a lifelong posture. It’s waking up each morning and saying, “Lord, today I choose to rest in You. My salvation — my peace, my purpose, my strength — comes from You.” It’s carrying that trust into every moment, knowing that even when life feels unstable, God remains unshakable.
When your heart feels anxious, remember Psalm 62:1. Speak it over yourself as a prayer, as a reminder, as a declaration: “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him.” Let that truth steady your spirit. Let it silence the lies of fear. Let it anchor you when everything else feels uncertain. Because the rest your soul is searching for will never be found in this world — it’s found in the presence of the One who made it.
And when we learn to live from that place — that quiet confidence in God — we not only experience peace ourselves, but we become instruments of peace in the lives of others. We carry calm into chaos, hope into despair, light into darkness. That’s the power of resting in God — it doesn’t just change our mood; it transforms our witness.
So may we, like David, be able to say with unwavering faith: “Truly my soul finds rest in God.” Not just sometimes, not just when life feels easy — but always. Because our salvation, our peace, and our rest are all found in Him alone.

A prominent verse related to generational stewardship of money is Proverbs 13:22, which states, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children."
This verse suggests that part of being a good steward of wealth includes planning for the future and ensuring the well-being of future generations of kingdom builders.
This verse is often cited in discussions about financial planning and legacy, it's important to remember that the Bible also emphasizes the importance of giving to those in need and being content with what one has, rather than accumulating wealth for its own sake.
The focus should be on using resources wisely and for God's glory first and foremost, NOT simply leaving a large sum of generational money.
My mission is to serve followers of Christ through helping them become builders of His kingdom. Trading is NOT a get rich scheme, rather it's a skillset that when applied from the perspective of stewarding God's wealth and will first, proves to be incredibly fulfilling!

Here’s our 7-Day Journaling Plan based on Psalm 62:1 —
“Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him.”
Opening Prayer for Each Day:
“Lord, quiet my mind and settle my spirit. Help me to hear Your voice above the noise of this world. Teach my soul to rest in You as I reflect on Your Word today. Amen.”
Day 1 – The Source of True Rest
Scripture: “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him.” — Psalm 62:1
Reflection Thought: We often seek rest in temporary escapes — a day off, a distraction, or an achievement. But the soul only finds lasting peace in the presence of God.
Journaling Prompt: Where have I been searching for rest apart from God? How might I begin to redirect my heart toward Him today?
Rest Practice: Spend 10 minutes in silence today. No distractions, no music — just breathe deeply and quietly whisper: “My soul finds rest in You, Lord.”
Day 2 – Letting Go of Control
Scripture: “Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
Reflection Thought: Rest begins where striving ends. The restless heart often clings to control — but rest is found in surrender.
Journaling Prompt: What am I still trying to control that belongs in God’s hands? What fears keep me from releasing it?
Rest Practice: Write down one thing that’s been weighing on you. Pray over it, then physically fold or tear that paper — symbolizing giving it fully to God.
Day 3 – The Trust That Brings Peace
Scripture: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.” — Isaiah 26:3
Reflection Thought: Trust and rest are connected. When you trust God completely, your soul can rest even when life feels uncertain.
Journaling Prompt: What specific area of my life is hardest to trust God with? What would it look like to truly rest in His promise instead of my plan?
Rest Practice: Take a slow walk without your phone. With each step, repeat silently: “I trust You, Lord.”
Day 4 – Remembering My Salvation
Scripture: “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” — Psalm 27:1
Reflection Thought: Our rest is secure because our salvation is secure. God’s grace means you don’t have to perform for peace — it’s already been given through Christ.
Journaling Prompt: How does remembering my salvation change how I face today’s challenges? In what ways has God already rescued me from striving?
Rest Practice: Spend 5 minutes thanking God — not asking, not confessing — just expressing gratitude for your salvation.
Day 5 – Worship Through Stillness
Scripture: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14
Reflection Thought: Stillness is worship. When you choose to pause, you’re proclaiming that God is in control. Rest is not laziness — it’s an act of faith.
Journaling Prompt: How do I usually respond when I feel overwhelmed? What would happen if my first response was stillness before God instead of activity?
Rest Practice: Take one hour today to step away from screens, noise, and busyness. Let your stillness become a form of worship.
Day 6 – Carrying Peace Into the World
Scripture: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.” — John 14:27
Reflection Thought: The peace you receive from God isn’t meant to stop with you — it’s meant to flow through you. Rested hearts reflect a restful God.
Journaling Prompt: Who in my life needs to experience God’s peace through me? How can I bring calm and kindness into my interactions today?
Rest Practice: Pray for someone you know who’s anxious or burdened. Ask God to let His peace rest on them through your words or actions.
Day 7 – Living from Rest, Not for It
Scripture: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
Reflection Thought: God’s rest isn’t a reward at the end of the week — it’s a rhythm for everyday living. You don’t have to wait for peace; it’s available in every moment.
Journaling Prompt: How has my understanding of rest changed this week? What habits will I continue to practice so my soul stays anchored in Him?
Rest Practice: Take communion or quiet time in gratitude. End your week by declaring aloud: “My soul finds rest in God alone. He is my salvation, my peace, and my strength.”
Closing Prayer for Each Day:
“Father, thank You for meeting me here. As I step into the rest of this day, let my heart remain at peace in You. Help me to carry Your stillness, Your confidence, and Your grace wherever I go. Amen.”

When you draw near to Him, your anxious heart can finally exhale. Your weary soul can settle. And in that stillness, you’ll remember that your salvation — your hope, your strength, your future — comes from God alone.
Take a moment today to pause, breathe deeply, and whisper, “My rest is in You, Lord.” Let His presence restore what the world has worn down.
